Technical Analysis, Studies, Indicators:Displaced VMA (Volume Moving Average)A displaced VMA (Volume Moving Average) takes the current volume moving average and shifts it forward or backward in time by a specified number of bars. The first number in the study defines the period of a VMA (number of bars) and the second parameter specifies the displaced period (number of bars to shift backward or forward). By entering a negative number, you shift the VMA left (backward in time). When the moving average is shifted backward, the remaining portion of the study is not calculated. The mathematical principles of a moving average will always make it follow or lag the actual volume data. By centering the VMA, you can receive a more accurate picture of the VMA in relation to the volume.
